New last week were the first pumpkin of the season, grapes at several vendors, ground cherries, seedless watermelon, sweet potatoes, a burst of late season berries, and lots of new varieties of apples coming on! Harvest Moon had tuberoses and Matt Martin was singin’ in the rain!
We’re in that transition period between late summer and early fall. Some vendors had the last of their peaches and cantaloupes, but other vendors with dryer field locations or more northern locales will still have them for a bit longer.
Tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, zucchini, green beans, and other summer produce will continue for a while but look for more winter squash, onions, root vegetables, and fall greens to become available as well as apples, pears, and pumpkins.
September is here, so Xchocol’Art is excited to be back at the Market this week. They will have new Marc de Champagne and Gold truffles, plus the popular dark chocolate figs filled with Rum Ganache. Home Ec is moving to a new spot at the Market. Look for them across the aisle from Schacht Farms.
It’s Labor Day Weekend, so there is a lot going on in the neighborhood: the BRVA Village cleanup, your last chance for Devour Indy, a Street Fair in the Village on Monday, and of course, the Market on Saturday to get your fresh, local food for your holiday celebrations.
This is also the first Saturday of the month, so we have Circle City Kombucha, Circle City Smoke, Hidden Pond Farm, Trailhead Naturals, and Turchetti’s Salumeria with us this week. We’ll also be joined by Batch No. 2, Hickory Valley, and 3 in 1 Restaurant.
Farm to Product is back after being out last Saturday. Brotgarten is still out this week but plan to be back next Saturday. Revival Food Co. is also out this week. Bloomer’s Greenhouse, Me and Dippy McGee and Pete’s Peaches are both out for the Season.
