With strawberries at the peak of their season, you might be looking for some new ways to use them. There’s nothing wrong with a good strawberry short-cake, but these recipes are a little bit out of the ordinary and sure to delight!
The strawberries are so good when they’re fresh and in season, that they don’t need much of anything added. This recipe takes that thought to its natural conclusion! With just 4 ingredients, it couldn’t be simpler or easier!
Butter, Sugar, and Strawberry Sandwiches
from Real Simple
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled
- 1/3 cup sugar + 2 tablespoons
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 4 slices firm but fresh sandwich, brioche, or baguette
Slice the strawberries crosswise. Place them in a medium bowl and sprinkle with 1/3 cup of the sugar. Butter the bread slices, then slice them in half and sprinkle with the remaining sugar. Place the bread on serving plates and spoon the berries on top.
