This is a pivotal week in our BRFM season. It is the first week of official summer (the solstice was Monday) and the last week for vendors supplying plastic bags and straws to customers as we “Kick the Plastic Habit”.
Get your reusable shopping bags ready because you will no longer be given plastic bags for your purchases from our vendors — starting July 2. You can bring your own plastic bags from home, but you won’t be able to get them at the Market.
The BRVA has really nice insulated bags for sale, and at least one of our vendors has reusable bags you can purchase.
If you have extra reusable shopping bags you would like to donate, we would be grateful to have you drop them off at the information booth where we will try to keep a supply for those who forget their own bags.
There will be no more plastic straws handed out at the Market after this Saturday either. Options for customers are to sip your beverage directly from the cup without a lid and straw, or bring your own cup from home with a sipping-friendly lid.
