The Vernal Equinox happens on March 20th — this month! There may have been snow on the ground and freezing temperatures just last week, but the long winter is winding down and Spring is just around the corner. The sun is coming up a little earlier and staying in the sky a little later every day. Farmers around the state have started seedlings in their greenhouses and are planning their first harvests.
Of course, that is the nature of things. Winter is a time for resting and preparing for the new cycle of life that begins in the Spring. And at Redbud Farm and Caprini Creamery, winter has been a time for the birth of new kids! We’ve been seeing photos since the first of the new year of new baby goats and their mamas as the population keeps growing on the farm. Does that mean lots of great goat cheese offerings come Market season? I would think so! We have much to look forward to when the Market opens in May!
