The 2013 Dinner in the Art Garden was a success in spite of soggy ground and drizzly skies. Even though we dined under a tent rather than under the stars; it didn’t seem to dim the excitement about the food or about the occasion.

For the first time, the Dinner was produced by a team of chefs led by Greg Hardesty from Recess — with each chef preparing a separate course. Many thanks to Jon Brooks from Milktooth, Tyler Herald from Napolese, Layton Roberts from Meridian Restaurant & Bar, Ryan Nelson from Late Harvest Kitchen, and Nicole & Eli Anderson from H2O Restaurant & Sushi Bar for their participation.

Also for the first time, each course was paired with a different wine. Thanks go to Southern Wine & Spirits, and to Crossroad Vintners. Coffee with dessert was provided by Hubbard & Craven Coffee and Tea. More courses and wine with each one posed a new challenge for our volunteer server team, but they never missed a beat — job well done!

The evening was topped off by the presentation of the 2013 Ross Faris Award to Regina Mehallick from R Bistro.  Regina was honored for being the first local chef/restaurant to actively source ingredients locally and to promote the producers on her menu. Congratulations Regina!
