Natural Born Juicers creates smoothies, and cold-pressed juices using top of the line machinery and supporting as many local farms as possible for their ingredients. Their main store is located in the Indianapolis City Market and run by owners Corey and Laura Beatus with an “awesome team of amazing people for whom we are thankful every single day.”
Corey is a native of Queens, NY. He grew up running camp kitchens in upstate NY where he learned to appreciate the culinary arts. He has a degree in Restaurant Management from Florida International University and SUNY Delhi. He spent 6 years as Manager of Lucky’s Juice Joint in Soho, NY where he met wife, Laura. There they discovered their love for juicing, whole foods, and working together.
Laura graduated from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music before going on to earn her Holistic Health Practitioners license from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She found her love and appreciation for juicing while serving as Assistant Manager at Lucky’s Juice Joint. She is fascinated by the politics of food and has studied dietary theories throughout the world from the traditional to the modern.
Corey and Laura started NBJ in New York City in 2000 before moving to Indianapolis in 2009. This is their third year participating at the Broad Ripple Farmers Market. The couple says that they do it because they “have made the choice to live in the default, non-tribal culture and have to make money doing something. It may as well be something that is good for people as well as the environment.”
For more information about their juices and cleanse programs, see their website here. Or stop by their booth at the Market and ask them to tell you all about their products. I guarantee it will be a fascinating conversation!
