This week we welcome Second Helpings to the Market. For those not familiar with their operation, they are a food rescue non-profit dedicated to feeding the hungry.
I spoke with Lacey Dannenberg, who is coordinating their presence at the Market. This is what she told me:
“Second Helpings hopes to share its mission and spread awareness of the issues of hunger and poverty in Indianapolis. We look forward to connecting with the community. We will also be working with vendors on a ‘Buy a Pound, Give a Pound’ campaign in order to support the vendors as well as collect fresh produce for our hunger relief and culinary job-training programs.”
The organization will be at the market on the third Saturday of each month with information about their programs. They will also take donations of cash or produce. For more information about Second Helpings, click here.
